Bowie State University: Celebrating 150 Years

On January 9, 1865, the Baltimore Association for the Moral and Educational Improvement of Colored People opened the city’s first free school for black children. Bowie State University evolved from that early school teaching the elements of education into a comprehensive, diverse university preparing students for high-demand careers.

In January 2015, the University will launch a yearlong celebration of the 150th anniversary of its founding.

Partners in Peace

Sexual violence is a social epidemic that is growing at alarming rates. Specifically, sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking have become more prevalent on college campuses. As a campus community, it is important that all community members have a clear understanding of the complex issues surrounding sexual violence.

The Partners in Peace program at Bowie State University aims to raise awareness about and effectively respond to sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking.
