Career Counseling
Undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to make an appointment with a Career Counselor to discuss career plans, review resumes and cover letters, talk about interviewing skills, investigate career options, search for internships, and much more. We offer 50 minute appointments as well as walk-ins. Walk-ins are first-come, first-served and are meant for brief questions that can be handled in about 15 minutes. For alums and students who do not live near the Bowie area, phone consultations are available. What's most important...Making money? Improving society? Status? Personal fulfillment? With SIGI3career planning software, it's up to the individual. There are no right or wrong answers. SIGI3 helps each user examine key motivators and matches work-related values, interests, personality, and skills to educational and career pathways. Searching for answers to your career and job search-related questions? Our Career Resource Library offers a variety of print and online resources addressing the full range of career related subjects. Topics include job search strategies, resume & cover letter writing, interview tips, graduate and professional school admissions information, occupation descriptions, employer files,  and internship opportunities. Materials are available for use in the Career Resource Library only! Books are not available for check out. CRL Booklist.

We also provide computers with Internet access for students to do job and internship searches and create resumes and cover letters.

Practice Interview Program
In this current economic climate, practice interviews are more important than ever. The Practice Interview Program (PIP) is open to all BSU students and alumni. This is an opportunity to do a practice interview with one of our local employer partners.

Why take advantage of this program? Becuase participating in a practice interview allows you to become familiar with comonly-asked questions, practice your intervieiwng skills, and receive fedback about your interviwing style. Understand that intervieiwng is a skill that can be perfected with practice. Preparation can make the difference between getting an offer and getting rejected.
