As Vice President for Student Affairs since December 2006, Dr. Travis is responsible for providing leadership for a comprehensive student centered program of professional and support staff in the following component areas: The Center for Alcohol, Tobacco and other Drugs (ATOD), Campus Police, Career Services, International Student Services and Cooperative Education, Cheerleading, Counseling, Greek Life, Student Health and Wellness, Intramurals and Recreation, Commuter Programs, Student Conduct and Discipline, Residence Life Programs, Student Activities and Student Government (undergraduate and graduate), Leadership Programs and the Wiseman Student Center Complex (which in Conference Services).
In addition, Dr. Travis is responsible for overall crisis prevention and intervention, disaster planning and preparation, fundraising for the Division of Student Affairs, and assigned roles in university leadership.
Prior to his arriving at Bowie State he served in Senior Leadership positions at a number of other schools, to include serving as Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs at Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina, Vice President and Dean of Students at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Executive Director of Student Activities and the UConn Student Union at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT, and Director of Student Activities and Minority Student Affairs at Furman University in South Carolina. Other leadership roles include serving as Assistant Director of Student Involvement and Minority Programs at the University of Maryland College Park, and Director of the African American Cultural Center at both UCONN and at Western Illinois University.
Dr. Travis received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Political Science/Public Administration from Western Illinois University and his Doctorate of Education from the University of South Carolina. Dr. Travis served two years in the United States Army attached to the 421st Medical Air Ambulance Company in Germany prior to starting college.
Ms. Thomasina Boardley, B.A.
Coordinator of Student Conduct/Special Assistant to the Vice President of Student Affairs

Thomasina Boardley is the Judicial Affairs Coordinator with the responsibility for the overall management and supervision of the University's non-academic disciplinary system. She also serves as the Special Assistant to the Vice President of Student Affairs where she coordinates special events and programs for the Division.
Thomasina Boardley has worked at Bowie State University since August of 2008. She started as the Athletics Academic Counselor and became the Compliance Officer in January of 2010. Prior to her arrival at Bowie State University, she was the Special Educational Instructional Team Leader at River Hill High School in Howard County, Maryland, Special Education Department Chair and Special Education Teacher at High Point High School in Prince George's County, Maryland.
Thomasina enjoys helping others, working with students and coaching cheerleading. Ms. Boardley is currently coaches the Golden Girls at BSU for the past 5 years.
Thomasina resides in Crofton, MD with her husband Tyrone, and daughters, Taylor and Tori. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Special Education from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
Ms. Deborah McClure
Staff Assistant to Vice President for Student Affairs

Deborah McClure currently serves as the Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs. In this role, she provides administrative assistance and guidance to the Vice President as it relates to Student Affairs issues. She oversees the day-to-day operations of the Office of Student Affairs. She supervises the clerical and other support staff within the office. Additionally, she serves as the Budget Officer for the entire division as well as the official time keeper. Ms. McClure brings an enormous wealth of knowledge and expertise to her position as she has served the Division of Student Affairs in various capacities and Bowie State University for over forty years. Her most recent undertaking is that of Coordinator for the University's Honda Campus All Star Challenge Program, a program which strives to improve and enhance our student's educational pursuits.
Deborah enjoys singing with her church choir (First Baptist Church of Annpaolis), listening to music and reaching out to others anyway that she can.
Deborah resides in Annapolis, Maryland and is the proud mother of one son, Carl who is a Bowie State Alumni.

Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs

Ms. Johnson works closely with the Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs in conjunction with the Staff Assistant to the Vice President of Student Affairs. She brings a warm and pleasant personality as she helps to manage day to day operations in the office. Ms. Johnson coordinates with a variety of university wide committees on behalf of the Office of the Vice President.
Ms. Johnson assists with gathering and administering documentation for Judicial Affairs cases. She serves as the division resource for student conduct issues and confidential request from external agencies.
She is also responsible for the maintenance and coordination of the calendars for both the Vice President and the Judicial Affairs Coordinator/Special Assistant to the Vice President of Student Affairs.
Trish, who is the proud mother of a son Devin, will be enrolling at BSU in spring 2011 to continue her pursuit of a Bachelor's of Science degree in Psychology.
