|  BARBARA A. CROSBY, ‘89
MPA, BSN, RNBC Barbara Crosby graduated from Bowie State University in spring 1989 with a Master of Public Administration with a focus in healthcare. Crosby has been very involved in the community, where she was appointed by the governor of Maryland to serve on two boards for four-year terms, in 2007 and 2008 including the Citizen Review Board and the Maryland Medical Podiatry Board. Recently, Crosby was elected to serve a three-year term on the National Black Nurses Association Board of Directors, installed in August 2010 in San Diego, Ca. In addition, she has received confirmation from the Maryland Board of Nursing for a two-year term to review items for the NCLEX examination, Nov. 2010-Nov. 2012. She is also involved in changes and initiatives related to the new healthcare reform, and she attends one to two workshops monthly. For the last seven years, Crosby has completed a five-week course offered by the University of Maryland Medical School called the Mini Med School, which discusses various health topics from disease to research and genetic studies. |
Speaking little English, Ji-Wu Jia came to the United States with his wife and son in 1989 from Beijing, China, a society that is much more open to the world now than years ago. Home to the 2008 Olympics, Beijing is also where Jia received a bachelor’s degree in computer programming from Beijing College of Economics.
Computer science professor Daryl Stone received his undergraduate degree from Bowie State in 1992. He successfully defended his doctoral dissertation at George Washington University on Election Day, November 4, 2008.
Talented Baltimore vocalist Lisa Mack began singing at the age of 4. Her talent helped her win the crown of Miss Bowie State University in 1992 and placed her as a finalist at the 6th annual Miss Collegiate African American Pageant.
