Dr. Sunando Sengupta

Dr. Sunando Sengupta has always been passionate about teaching and trying to enhance the learning experience through the use of technological aides including Blackboard, PowerPoint, audios and videos. His love for teaching brought him to Bowie State University where he has been teaching since fall 2005. He currently serves as associate professor of accounting, finance and economics. He teaches undergraduate finance courses in principles of finance, investments, corporate finance and small business finance and serves as co-advisor of the Finance and Economics Club.
 
His academic credentials include a doctoral degree in economics from the W.P. Carey School of Business at the Arizona State University; bachelor’s degree in economics (with minors in statistics and mathematics) from the University of Calcutta, India; and a master’s degree in economics from the Center of Economic Studies and Planning from Jawaharlal Nehru University, India.  
 
Dr. Sengupta has presented his research findings at both national and international research conferences including the annual meeting of the Financial Management Association (FMA), The Washington Research Forum, International Academy of Business and Economics Annual Conference, and Brown Bag seminar at Arizona State University.  He has published his research in various peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of International Finance and Economics, Review of Business Research, and the International Journal of Business and Finance Research.  In May 2005, he won the Outstanding Research Award at the Costa Rica conference of the Institute of Business and Finance Research (IBFR).

When he is not researching or teaching, Dr. Sengupta spends time traveling with his wife  and at home in Laurel, Md.
