Nikki E. Owens 

In October 2008, Nikki E. Owens, a junior at Bowie State University, received a Milton Pericles Darden III Memorial Scholarship from the Scott Lee Foundation during its First Annual Nicole Lynette Scott Lee Memorial Scholarship Awards Reception. She also will receive an internship with a communications or marketing organization. The scholarship was established to honor the memory of Nicole Lynette Scott Lee, a successful account executive with black enterprise magazine.

Owens is pursuing a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing at Bowie State University.  She serves as an officer in Bowie State's Globalization Club which exposes the University community to global financial systems and their impact on the United States economy.

A native of Severn, Md., Owens graduated from Old Mill Senior High School in Millersville, where she focused on business classes and actively participated in Future Business Leaders of America activities.

She has an outgoing personality, loves to travel, meet new people and explore her passion for the arts. She enjoys singing, writing, and dramatic plays. Once she completes undergraduate studies, Owens plans to pursue a master's degree in business administration, while simultaneously working in the marketing department of the American Heart/Stroke Associations in Baltimore, Md. The student's long-term goal is to work for a Fortune 500 marketing or public relations firm in New York or California.
