Bowie State Set to Graduate Approx. 350 Students at Winter Commencement
Secretary of Aging Gloria Lawlah to Address Graduates

Maryland Secretary of Aging and distinguished humanitarian Gloria G. Lawlah will address an estimated 350 graduates at Bowie State University's winter commencement ceremony set for 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 16, in the Leonidas S. James Physical Education Complex. Approximately 260 students will receive bachelor's degree while 90 will receive master's degrees.

Lawlah serves on the Governor's Executive Council and tackles issues including homelessness and long-term care, and serves as an advocate for the elderly at all levels of government. She previously served as a member of the Maryland Senate from 1991-2007 and as a member of the House of Delegates from 1987-1991, representing Prince George's County. Lawlah also served as federal liaison for the Office of External Relations at Bowie State University from 1995-2007.
