Bowie State University Winter Commencement December 18
More than 250 students will receive undergraduate and graduate degrees during Bowie State University's 2009 Winter Commencement. The ceremony was re-instituted two years ago to allow students who meet the academic requirements to graduate prior to spring commencement and get an early start on their career aspirations.
Retired United States Army Brigadier General Clara L. Adams-Ender is the commencement speaker. She recently completed her memoir "My Rise to the Stars," a motivation journal on Adams-Ender life experiences. Her career rose from a staff nurse in the army nurse corps to become the chief executive officer for 22,000 nurses, a brigadier general and director of personnel for the army surgeon general. She is currently the president and chief executive officer of Caring About People With Enthusiasm (CAPE) Associates, Inc., a management consulting firm. She has received many awards including the Roy Wilkins Meritorious Service Award from the NAACP and the Gertrude E. Rush Award for Leadership from the National Bar Association.
