New Marketing Director Named for Bowie State University
Veteran Marketing Leader Cassandra Robinson to Begin Work May 4
(Bowie, Md.)-Bowie State University announced today its new director of university relations and marketing, Cassandra M. Robinson, who is scheduled to begin her new role May 4. Ms. Robinson comes to Bowie State University with more than 20 years of experience in higher education marketing and communications.
As director, Ms. Robinson will be charged with publicizing, promoting and marketing the University through the implementation of a comprehensive marketing plan. In addition, Ms. Robinson will serve as the official spokesperson for Bowie State University. The director, a member of the President's Cabinet, oversees all University publications and provides leadership on critical issues affecting the image of Bowie State University.
"I am extremely excited to join the team of talented professionals at Bowie State University," said Ms. Robinson. "I look forward to contributing to the effort to increase awareness of the high quality programs and exceptional educational experience offered at Bowie State, and the critical role it plays in expanding opportunities for Maryland students to achieve higher education."
Ms. Robinson previously served as associate director of university marketing at the University of Maryland, College Park. In this role, she was responsible for the development of marketing strategies to support the university's $1 billion capital campaign and coordinating major institutional branding and marketing initiatives. She also provided marketing advice to other campus units. She came to the University of Maryland in 1993 as senior media relations coordinator and was named assistant director of communications in 1999. She was promoted to her most recent role in 2006.
"Ms. Robinson possesses the experience, leadership skills, and strong focus necessary to continue moving Bowie State University forward in developing its image," said Bowie State University President Mickey L. Burnim. "Marketing is integral to the growth and development of the institution and I am confident that she will be successful in her new role."
Prior to coming to the University of Maryland, Ms. Robinson served as director of university relations for Virginia State University, where she oversaw all public relations efforts. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from Southern University, a Master of Arts in journalism from the University of Michigan and a Certificate from the Leadership Development Institute at the University of Maryland.
