Antionette J. Marbray is the Interim Vice President and General Counsel. She served as Bowie State's Interim General Counsel from January 1-June 30, 2010. She is responsible for providing legal and policy advice to the President and members of his cabinet as well as overseeing legal and litigation matters on campus.

Ms. Marbray has more than 15 years of experience in the fields of higher education law and university administration. Prior to coming to Bowie State University her positions included serving as Assistant General Counsel at the University of Florida and as Director of the Center for Student Rights and Responsibilities at San Diego State University. For the past year Ms. Marbray has served as Coordinator of Legal and Government Affairs at Bowie State University.

Ms. Marbray's areas of expertise include legal issues in student affairs, student privacy rights, and risk management. During her tenure as an Assistant General Counsel at the University of Florida, Ms. Marbray counseled and advised university faculty and administrators on law and policy matters related student discipline, academic dismissals, confidentiality of student records, admissions, residency classifications and international student affairs. During this time Ms. Marbray was also recognized as a co-recipient of the Davis Productivity award for design and implementation of a training website on the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Ms. Marbray has adjudicated hundreds of student conduct cases and has served as principal investigator in cases alleging sexual harassment, discrimination and retaliation. She has also argued cases before state administrative appeals boards.

Ms. Marbray has also taught graduate and undergraduate courses on School Law and Legal, Ethical and Policy Issues in Education.

Ms. Marbray earned a Juris Doctorate from Duke University School of Law, and a Master's degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Florida. She also graduated with departmental honors from the University of South Florida.

Ms. Marbray is licensed to practice law in Florida and the District of Columbia.
