Dr. Gerri Bates, associate professor of English, will present on themes from her book, "Alice Walker: A Critical Companion (Critical Companions to Popular Contemporary Writers)."

A roundtable discussion will follow the lecture and reflect on these questions:

  1. What does it mean to be a global woman in the 21st century?
  2. What obstacles are women faced with towards rising above the struggles of the world today?
  3. What challenges are women of color dealing with from the past and present?
  4. What is success? What is beauty? What is respect?
  5. How can the global woman heal?
