The recipient of the 1986 Nobel Prize in Literature, Wole Soyinka, is the guest of honor at Bowie State University's 2007 Spring Arts Festival on April 1, 2007. The event was held in the Myers Auditorium on campus and sponsored by the Departments of English and Modern Languages, Communications, Fine and Performing Arts, and History and Government, as well as the Honors Program. Soyinka enlightens the group on the Nigerian crisis and discusses the complexities and the future of Africa. He also describes his path from imprisonment during the Nigerian civil war to becoming a celebrated poet, novelist, and theater director.
