| President's Message: Town Hall Meeting on Budget Update You are invited to hear the latest information regarding additional budget cuts for the University. This discussion will include the possibility of furloughs. The meeting will be held on Monday, Dec. 15, at 3 p.m. in the Thurgood Marshall Library auditorium on the lower level. As stated in my previous message, we have taken a number of steps to reduce expenses and constrain spending. Those steps have included hiring freezes and drawing down our fund balance reserves. We join other USM institutions and state agencies as we prepare to make additional budget cuts to deal with the state's funding shortfall. |
