(Bowie, Md.) – June 14, 2013 – Clayton Steen has assumed the position of assistant vice president for enrollment management at Bowie State University.
He previously served as senior manager for enrollment performance management for U.S. campuses and field recruitment at Laureate Education, Inc., an international network of universities promoting innovative higher education. He provided critical data analysis and strategic recommendations for U.S. and international institutions and field recruitment teams.
Steen was formerly director of enrollment for graduate and professional studies at Stevenson University. He was instrumental in developing new positions for admissions, advisement, and financial aid to support incoming students and implemented a bi-annual signature recruitment event to grow enrollments.
As director of ADVANCE and master of business administration (MBA) programs at D’Youville College, he executed retention strategies to increase degree completion rates for accelerated program students and spearheaded the launch of an accelerated MBA program.
“I am looking forward to joining an already experienced, skilled, and well-qualified enrollment management leadership team, and I hope to bring my experience with the for-profit sector, traditional recruitment, graduate and professional degree programs, and adult-accelerated programs to an already thriving campus,” Steen said. “Our goal will be to collaborate with all of our internal and external partners and take an interdisciplinary approach to enrollment management that emphasizes the individual needs of our students.”
Steen earned a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo and a master’s degree in education, curriculum & instruction from Medaille College. He is defending his dissertation to complete a Ph.D. degree in education, leadership & policy from SUNY Buffalo.
