Calendar of Events

The workshops, social activities, and programs hosted by the Bowie State University Male Initiative will provide program participants with valuable experiences that contribute to student success. The BSU Male Initiative will continue to establish partnerships internally and externally with departments and organizations interested in providing growth and leadership opportunities for its students.  Through these partnerships and sponsorships, the following activities have been planned yearly:  

Lecture Series

Thursday, September 26, 2013: Dr.David Kirkland presents from his book, "A Search Past Silence:The Literacy of Young Black Men" at 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. for lecture and book signing in CLT 102.

Friday, September 27, 2013: Dr. Randall Horton presents from his chapbook, "Roxbury" at 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 pm for lecture and book signing in CLT 102.

Thursday, October 3, 2013: Dr. Monique Akassi presents from her book, "Postcolonial Composition Pedagogy: Using The Culture of Marginalized Students To Teach Writing" at 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. for lecture and book signing in CLT 102.

Tuesday, November 5, 2013: Professor Hoke Glover presents "The Black Male's Presence in China" at 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. for lecture only. CLT 102

Monday, December 9, 2013 The Undergraduate Research Conference with keynote speaker, Dr. Daniel Black. He will present from his book, "They Tell Me if A Home" in CLT 102&117
