The Fine and Performing Arts Program leads to the Bachelor's of Arts degree in fine arts with a concentration in either art, music or musical technology. The Theatre Arts Program leads to a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in musical theatre. The department also offers a new Bachelor of Science in Visual Communication & Digital Media Arts (VCDMA). As of Fall, 2011, the new VCDMA (BS) major replaces the previous program and Computer Graphics/VCDMA (BA) degree. The new VCDMA offers (5) five new concentrations in Advertising Design, Digital Media Arts, Animation & Motion Graphics, Digital Cinema & Time-Based Media and Fashion Design.
The minimum number of semester hours required for either degree is 120. Students who choose to concentrate in a particular area must consult with a fine and performing arts faculty advisor to design a specific program.
Students must officially declare fine arts as a major by entering it on their initial application for admission or by submitting the Declaration of Major Form. Fine arts and theatre arts majors must earn at least a grade of "C" in courses taken in the major or the course must be repeated.
All students applying for admission to the Fine Arts, VCDMA or Theater Arts majors are required to submit or participate in a portfolio, performance, or audition review with their application.
Please contact an academic advisor in the area of interest for more information about requirements and designing a program in a specific area of concentration, and always before registering for all courses.
