Technology and educators are linked in ways that promote and describe the profession. The application of technology within the profession literally defines the workplace in the areas of assessment protocol, demonstration of dispositions, application of learning theories and alternative instructional concepts, addressing socio-cultural issues, and serving special populations. The College of Education at Bowie State University incorporates technology-rich curriculum and classrooms to facilitate and enhance its teacher preparation programs. Distance LearningAs part of the University-wide effort to incorporate technology as part of instructional strategies and course delivery, the College of Education is utilizing Blackboard, a web-based delivery system for distance learning, in two distinct ways: as a community for National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) preparation and as a course management tool. Currently, the college offers various web-enhanced courses. Coupled with its technology-rich labs and resource centers, the school seeks to be one of the few teacher education programs to fully embrace technology.
