Welcome to the College of Professional Studies webpage at Bowie State University. Today, individuals work in many different professional fields and at various career levels that require in-depth knowledge and skills. Successful professionals understand that such learning is a career-long process that is needed to remain contemporary and competitive in the workplace. The College of Professional Studies offers academic programs that prepare students for the unique demands of the rapidly growing and diverse global labor market.

The College of Professional Studies is quite diverse in its offerings and provides an outstanding educational opportunity for students. The departments within the college integrate liberal arts and sciences with theory and application specific to each professional discipline. This learning process is achieved through classroom study, online and web-enhanced courses, field placements, internships, and clinical practice opportunities. A common theme within the college is professional service for positive social change. The college prepares its graduates to enter professional roles that help individuals, families, and communities maximize their positive human potential.

Drawing on a rich faculty with expertise in their respective disciplines, the college is comprised of four academic departments: Behavioral Sciences and Human Services, Nursing, Psychology, and Social Work. Because the college places a strong emphasis on both academic and practical experiences, it is attractive to students who are new to a professional academic field of study, continuing students searching for a career-oriented education path, or professionals desiring to advance their knowledge and skills. The departments provide well-rounded and customized programs to prepare students for employment and graduate studies.
