Marie Brown, lecturer, broadcast journalism MA, Theology, North Carolina, College of Theology BS, Communications Media, Bowie State College Marie Brown joined the Department of Communications faculty in fall 2009. She teaches courses in the broadcast journalism concentration. For over two decades she worked at WUSA-TV9, the CBS affiliate in Washington, D.C. During her tenure at WUSA-TV9 she served as Stage Manager, Floor Director, and Assistant Director and for the last 10 years, a Television Director/Producer. Several shows in which she directed received various Emmy awards. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences National Capital/Chesapeake Bay Chapter recognized her in 2003 as an Emmy award director for a 9 News Town Hall Meeting which was chosen as Outstanding Public Affairs program. Brown is no stranger to the University, she received a bachelor's degree in communications media with a concentration in broadcast technology from Bowie State College in 1988 a year before it became Bowie State University. She is pursuing a doctorate in biblical studies from North Carolina College of Theology, where she also received a bachelor's degree in biblical studies and a master's degree in theology. She travels throughout the country recruiting students for the department and mentors students pursuing careers in broadcasting. Brown is a licensed Evangelist with the Church of God In Christ.
