Marie Brown, Lecturer, Broadcast Journalism D.Th., Theology, North Carolina College of Theology MA, Theology, North Carolina College of Theology BS, Communications Media, Bowie State College Dr. Marie Brown joined the Department of Communications faculty in fall 2009. She teaches courses in the broadcast journalism concentration. For over two decades she worked at WUSA-TV9, the CBS affiliate in Washington, D.C. During her tenure at WUSA-TV9 she served as Stage Manager, Floor Director, and Assistant Director and for the last 10 years, a Television Director/Producer. Several shows in which she directed received various Emmy awards. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences National Capital/Chesapeake Bay Chapter recognized her in 2003 as an Emmy award director for a 9 News Town Hall Meeting which was chosen as Outstanding Public Affairs program. Dr. Brown is no stranger to the University, she received a bachelor's degree in communications media with a concentration in broadcast technology from Bowie State College in 1988 a year before it became Bowie State University. She travels throughout the country recruiting students for the department and mentors students pursuing careers in broadcasting. Dr. Brown is a licensed Evangelist with the New Hope Church of God In Christ (Upper Marlboro, Md.), where she was recently appointed Dean of its Bible College.
