To The Spectrum Online Staff: It is with great pride that I was able to play a role in the official launch of The Spectrum Online, the Internet version of The Spectrum student newspaper at Bowie State University. The rollout before students, faculty, administrators and members of the media on Dec. 4 in the Thurgood Marshall Library was a milestone in the evolution of the student-run newspaper, the Department of Communications and the University. I am particularly amazed by the speed with which you got the site up and running. I recall meeting with Prof. Karima A. Haynes in August 2008 who spoke of her vision to create The Spectrum Online. Under Prof. Haynes' leadership, with assistance from Spectrum Managing Editor Kristina Rowley and university webmaster Carmelo Rivera, the site made its debut on Oct. 22. I was more than excited to work with my staff, including Rochelle Daniel and Yolanda Dandridge, to organize the official launch of the site. The Spectrum Online offers Bowie State University yet another means to connect with students, faculty, alumni and, indeed, the global community through cutting edge technology. Best regards, Tammi L.
