NABA was founded in 1969 and has been the leader in expanding the influence of minority professionals in the fields of accounting and finance. Our student chapter at BSU is very active and has almost 50 members. We send students to national and regional conferences and bring speakers/alumni to discuss working for CPA firms, private companies, and government agencies. The goals of the association include, but are not limited to, the following: - To promote and develop the professional skills of our members
- To encourage and assist minority students in entering the accounting profession
- To provide opportunities for members to fulfill their civic responsibility
- To ensure long-term financial stability and provide adequate resources to implement chapter, regional, and national programs
- To represent the interests of current and prospective minority accounting professionals.
The 2007-2008 Bowie State University NABA officers are: Phillip Huiswoud, president Donna-Lee Baker, vice president Kevin Blackburn Jr., treasurer Jory Grant, secretary Patrice Ford, public relations/marketing/membership chair Tawakalitu Komolafe, SCREP chair Ben Ruff, SGA liaison Stacey Harris, community service chair
