Fall into Color

             By Alexis Drakeford

Summer rolled away as autumn made her arrival last week.  We said tah-tah to the long nights and bright days, and hello to brisk winds and florescent moonlit skies. As the leaves now begin to change, so will our wardrobe choices, going from vivid maxi dresses and sheer chiffon tops, to crisp leather jackets and thick knitted scarves.  Traditional fall colors are still acceptable only if paired with the season’s newest hues.

Tired of looking in your closet and reaching for those same fall colors, black, gray and brown?  Well be ever-so-overjoyed that this autumn is brighter than ever. What may those new hues consist of?  Make a statement with tangerine, plum, burgundy, hunter, teal, rose, cobalt, and ---shocker---chartreuse!  Yes! You read those colors correctly.  These bold colors can be paired with the forever-fall-staples of black, grey, and brown.

Color is an illusion.  We cannot touch color but it can touch us.  We cannot feel color but it can affect the way we feel.  We can only describe color as what we associate it with. Each color can evoke a different emotion.  Color is a key factor in the fashion world.  It is one of the main visual clues that help us define each season.  Now that it is autumn, with new hues, will you fall into color?
