Beauty Column My beauty within By Juliana Njoku So you're sitting in the mirror contemplating how you want to do your hair and makeup. It's not easy being beautiful and sometimes getting all dolled up can be a hassle. Ladies what is beauty anyway? Who decides what beauty is? Is beauty skin deep or is it how we are reflected within society? According to dictionary.com, beauty is defined as the quality present in a thing or person that gives satisfaction to the mind, whether arising from sensory manifestations. This means that that beauty can be defined as what satisfies us. It does not have to be necessary skin deep. Beauty can be portrayed in our movements, life, art, and dance. Beauty brings pleasure to our souls and satisfies our beings. Ladies, the latest mascara, lipstick, and liquid eye liner doesn't necessarily mean that you're beautiful. It's merely an enhancer to strengthen your natural looks. Beauty is not the latest hair style, but it is an appreciation for the art behind the hair and its history. My beauty is lifestyle in a sense, it reflects individualism. Whether you are walking down a street or sitting in the house think about your beauty and what it means to you. Are you a slave to outward beauty or does beauty reflect you as an individual? Do you define what is beautiful or are you captivated by the beauty around us? Remember beauty is not always skin deep but it is a reflection of your character and the world. |
