A New Year, A New You
By Sheena Shaw
Have you ever sat in front of a mirror and thought you needed some kind of change in your appearance? Well, I have on multiple occasions. It first started with simple hair dye. Of course, when it comes to any type of hair, be very cautious of what dye you choose because you want something healthy and not something that will leave you bald! Next, select a hair color that complements your complexion and personal style. Hair dye comes in varies colors, possibly every color in the rainbow. So choose wisely.
After thinking about changing my hair, I started to consider getting a piercing. People these days, get absolutely everything pierced, I mean everything. Keep in mind, that your piercing should be done by a professional to avoid any exposure to infections. Also, decide in advance where you want the piercing because once a piercing is removed, a ugly mark will possibly be left in return. Now, who has time to worry about that?
Last but not least, I got caught up in the "Rihanna Hairstyle Phase" or how the music says it's " The Halle Berry Look." Getting your haircut is a major decision, especially if you really treasure your hair. This can be a very fashionable hairstyle to give yourself that edge and uniqueness you want, but there is one important thing that every female should know. Short hair doesn't work for everyone. Even though, people might want a specific hair style, such as a Keri Hilson photo in some magazine, that does not mean your hair will look exactly like hers. Let's just say, it's pretty common that women will ask for one type of style, but will most likely go back and change something about it. Also, hair should be cut by a professional! So don't let one of your cousins or anyone without a cosmetologist's license try to experiment on your hair. Please!
It is a myth that short hair is easy to manage. I say this because if you're nearly bald, of course it's easy to deal with, but for the people who can at least sneak a curl in, hair is a hassle. You can do so much with it, but oh so little. You should attempt to wrap your hair by taking a brush or rake-comb and wrap your hair around your head until it appear as your hair is going in one direction. This can maintain your hair in a healthy condition for the next morning.
Deciding to rock a short hairstyle can affect you in a positive or negative way. For instance, you have finally decided you were ready to cut your hair and you know how much you want to cut off. If you like the end result, you will feel fresh and stylish. But id you are not happy with the way your hair turns out, you will have to go through the long process of growing it back. It is helpful if you use products that have shea butter or olive oil in it because it will stop premature hair breakage, which will give you healthier hair.
After all is said and done, if your hair short, remember to wear a scarf, hat, and earmuffs to keep your head and neck warm as you battle tough winter weather. Hopefully, all is well at the end and you enjoy the outcome of your appearance. Remember with the right attitude or swag, you can work anything. Always work it, don't let it work you.
