Mother! You have lost all the beauty of your soul

thus your heart beats from so many different horizons.

Your children have been taken away for far too many years

to please some unjustified desires of men who came to rob you.

The same men whose eyes are envious of your gold and diamonds.

Mother! Your heart is torn apart from all the cries and blood spilled.

Your children were stolen, sold, tortured and some fed to the ocean.

They screamed your name but yet you were way too far to hear them.

Yes mother, they were chained and forced to work days and nights.

And even if you are to be proud of all the work their hands produced,

they are to walk on other lands and lay to rest away from your eyes.

My heart goes out to you for all the pain that you have been through.

We've lost the men who should have led our lands to victory and glory.

The women who could have nurtured our future generations to be stronger.

Yes, you have lost the children that could have made you the wealthiest;

wrongfully deprived of generations that should have built you.

How could men go so far with cruelty to turn their eyes away from God?

How can we claim to be human if we don't see people as God's creations?

Aren't we all equally molded in the image of God, regardless of our color?

I heard your cry while I was still in the womb of the woman who carried me

and I wondered if we were punished for being deaf to the wisdom of God?

I share the pain of your heart as of a mother who has lost her only child.

Your tears flow through my veins like the salty blood of my ancestors,

thrown in the lost deep sea like some unwanted things of no value.

But I know that they have found their way home to God.

Why did you have to pay the price of destruction for the rest of mankind?

You have been weeping for way too long mother; rejoice because today,

God has heard your cries and opened the heavens to sing to you.

Cheer up! Cheer up! The angels sing:

The sons of your children are on their way back to you.
