BSU Student Fatally Stabbed By Spectrum Staff A Bowie State University student was stabbed Thursday night in a residence hall on campus, authorities said. The female student was stabbed at 8 p.m. on the second floor of the Christa McAuliffe Residential Community and taken to a local hospital where she later died, Prince George's County Police said. Authorities were investigating the events that led to the stabbing. University spokeswoman Cassandra Robinson told ABC7 that she "had no details yet." Bowie State University is celebrating its homecoming Sept. 11 - 18. Thursday night's event was a comedy show in the university gymnasium. A campus-wide electronic emergency alert system notified students leaving homecoming events who reside in Christa McAuliffe to report to the Center for Learning and Technology classroom building on campus. Students already inside the residence hall were instructed to stay inside the building. Students and alumni expressed their shock and sorrow over the tragedy via a stream facebook posts: "Homecoming week is supposed to be a fun time. RIP to the young Bulldog who lost her life today." Others offered support to the victim's family: "Such a tragedy on the campus of Bowie State University tonight. I am praying for the young lady's family to find some type of comfort during this time." The incident remains under investigation, authorities said. |
