Phi Beta Sigma Takes Step Show Crown By Jasmine Stewart After years as reigning champions, the Bowie State University chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. did not win this year’s homecoming step show competition. Although it was upsetting for the men of purple and gold, the loss was mainly due to a time disqualification. Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. and their "step fu-" themed set won over the judges and the audience. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. took the trophy for the women as Sigma Gamma Rho featured a "Dark Knight" theme and showed the audience that Miss Bowie State University 2012-2013 can really get down with her sisters. Participating fraternities and sororities were judged on creativity, precision, timing and audience feedback. Clearly, the step show was a perfect close to Homecoming 2012 as it appeared to raise students’ spirits after a disappointing loss by Omega Psi Phi. The show put students in a partying mood for the homecoming football game after party.

In October 2008, Nikki E. Owens, a junior at Bowie State University, received a Milton Pericles Darden III Memorial Scholarship from the Scott Lee Foundation during its First Annual Nicole Lynette Scott Lee Memorial Scholarship Awards Reception. 
Gilbert E. Pryor Jr., a native of Washington, D.C., holds a master's degree from Bowie State University in organizational communication and a bachelor's degree in music education with a minor in trumpet from Howard University.
After earning a bachelor's degree in business administration in marketing from James Madison University, Angela spent more than a decade working in small and large organizations and honing her leadership and organizational skills.
