| Alumni News Former SGA Vice President Returns to His Alma MaterWith Official OrdersBy Annette WedderburnThe BSU Student Alumni Association (SAA) needs you to get involved by joining us at our next meeting which is scheduled March 4 in CLT 102. Our guest speaker will be Lt. Col. Jonathan E. Watson, a 1990 graduate of Bowie State University. At BSU, Watson was a member of the football team, track team, a former Student Government Association vice president and selected to Who's Who Among College Students. He also received his commission as a U.S. Army 2nd Lieutenant in the Quartermaster Corps. Watson holds a master's degree in education from the University of Northern Colorado, and he is a doctorial student at Capella University, focusing on training and performance improvement. Additionally, Watson is a 1983 graduate of Central Senior High in Capitol Heights, Md., where he was captain of the football team, a member of the 1982 Prince George's County All-County football team. He also was a member of the indoor and outdoor track team. Watson has a storied military career with stints in Colorado, Korea, Japan, Somalia, Kuwait and Iraq. Presently, he is assigned to the Joint Staff, J4 Logistics Directorate, at the Pentagon. His military awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (1 OLC), the Iraq Campaign Medal, the United Nations Medal Somalia and the Global War on Terrorism Medal. He is also authorized to wear the Army Parachutist Badge, and he is also a recipient of the prestigious Order of Saint Christopher Medal. |
