Bowie State University Gospel Choir

Raises the Roof in Las Vegas

The Bowie State University Gospel Choir under the direction of Prof. LaTonya Wrenn, performed at the James Cleveland Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA) board meeting in suburban Las Vegas. GMWA is the largest gospel music organization of its kind with over 30,000 members. For the first time, the board meeting featured a "Collegiate Night Showcase" to its nightly musical lineup. The showcase took place March 10 in Henderson, Nev.

Dr. Joan Hillsman, GMWA board member and former Bowie State University Gospel Choir director, is chairwoman of the Collegiate Project.  The purpose of this project is to further expose the students to the heritage of gospel music, performance, music industry, and networking for career opportunities.
