BSU Students to Cast Ballots on April 22 By Spectrum Staff Bowie State University students will go to the polls April 22 to elect a new Student Government Association president and vice president, Miss Bowie State, Mr. Bowie State and class kings and queens. Students will make their choice for SGA president and vice president from two teams vying to lead BSU students. Kirk Pressley and Jamin Gallman of C.O.R.E. Team (Captivating, Obtaining, Representing and Executing).have pledged to unite the students, make Bowie State University a household name, institute reforms within SGA and mobilize students to become more active on campus and in the community. The team of Kevin Thomas and Maurice Robinson (Proceeding to Perfect Purpose Team) has run on a platform of greater cooperation with university administration to tackle students' concerns about university services. Vying for the title of Miss Bowie State University are Janay Carpenter and Ayana Harlee. As Miss Bowie State, Carpenter said she will seek to "motivate, empower, encourage and uplift all the awesome Bowie diamonds on campus." If selected to represent the university as its campus queen, Harlee said she will strive to help the women of BSU to find their purpose, develop self-confidence and "to always be their sister's keeper." Students are encouraged to vote on April 22. Voting sites for commuters will be located in the CLT building and voting sites for residents will be located in the Wiseman Student Center. |
