A Triumphant Win for Lady Bulldogs over VSU

On January 30, 2013 the Bowie State University women’s basketball team defeated Virginia State University, 75-66 with the Lady Bulldogs shooting a great game percentage just over 47 percent.

Efficient defense helped the BSU women’s basketball team essentially maintain a lead over VSU, who trailed almost the entire game, having only tied two separate times in the first half.  With a 26-8 run, the Lady Bulldogs had a 15 point lead just over eight minutes remaining in the first half.  The Lady Trojans played hard to try to close the gap but still fell short behind BSU with a halftime score of 36-32.

Too many turnovers by VSU in the second half worked in favor of the Lady Bulldogs.  With another run of 23-10, BSU extended their lead to pull further away from the Lady Trojans.

Coming back from a 30-second timeout with 50 seconds left on the clock, the aggression of the players was still patent.  VSU received their 12th team foul giving BSU the advantage for two free-throws which gave them their

nine-point lead in the final score.

Sophomore guard/forward Bria Robinson (Richmond, Va.) blazed the trail with 18 points and 10 rebounds

while Junior guard Alessandra Flores (Hagerstown, Md.) followed behind with 14 points.
