Bulldogs Make an Early ExitOut of CIAA TournamentBy Emery Rudolph
The Bulldogs headed off to the CIAA tournament in Charlotte, N.C. optimistic after ended the season winning four of their last five games. It seemed as if the Bulldogs were getting hot at the right time. However, the Bulldogs would have to get past the 4th seeded Falcons of Saint Augustine's College (who had already beat them twice) in the quarterfinals before they could claim the CIAA and bragging rights. This would prove too hard of a task for the 5th seeded Bulldogs as they would fall to the Falcons on Thursday, Feb. 26, at 1 p.m.in the Time Warner Arena. The Falcons would come out the gate firing as they went into the locker room up 19 points with the score being 42-23. Part of the problem was that the Bulldogs only shot 32% in the first half. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, the second half would not be much better with the Bulldogs shooting only 35% and missing 10 free-throws for the game. The final score would wind up being 77-53. The biggest Bulldog effort would come from Duke Crews who had 15 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks. Even with this loss there are some bright spots in this past season. For instance, Duke Crews was named to the All -CIAA team after averaging 15 points and 10 rebounds for the season. |
