BSU Launches Intramural SeasonBasketball Tournaments BeginBy Clarence Conaway It's that time of year once again, intramurals are back! This is the time of year when all the students who love basketball get their time to shine. It is always a fun and exciting season that comes around every spring semester after the CIAA tournament. Everyone has the opportunity to team up with their friends or if you don't care what squad you're on you can sign up by yourself. What makes intramurals really interesting is that each team is assigned one basketball player. Also the games take place in the main gym, the players are assigned jerseys, and there are referees. These components are very important because they give the regular student the real game feel. In many occasions you can determine who can handle the pressure and who can't. Another component of intramurals is that women get 3 points for every 2 point shot they make and 4 points for any 3 point shot they make. The fun parts of intramurals are the team naming, the playoffs, and the all-star game. When it comes to team naming it is determined by theme, for example, in past years it was game systems so the names would be things like wii, x-box, play station, etc. This year the team names are based off high schools so some of the teams are Dunbar, Randallstown, Milford Mill, etc. The playoffs can get real interesting, at times an intramural game ahs been as hype as a bulldog home game. Lastly, when the season is over there is an all-star game in which the best players (that don't play for the school) get a jersey with their name on it and play each other in an all-star game. This year's season started on March 24. There are currently 12 teams and the top ten teams will move on to the next round. The games are usually an hour long with 2 twenty minute halves and a running clock until 2 minutes left in the game. In case people on the team cannot make the game a team must have at least four players to compete. There are usually 3 games a day starting at 6pm. This year there have already been 3 days of games so it will be interesting to see how things turn out. | 
The thing I like most about BSU is the connections and relationships that I have made. Being an out of state student can be a challenge, and my fellow Bulldogs have become a part of my family.
Jennifer Dorsey began her dance training in Ellicott City, MD at Kinetics Dance Theatre. She then attended the Tisch School for the Arts at New York University where she received her B.F.A. in Dance Performance. 
Bowie State University alumnus Candace "Daki" Simmons received a Bachelor of Science in Social Work in 2004.
