An Abrupt Elimination
No Repeat Championshp
By Emery Rudolph
Yet another Lady Bulldogs softball season has come to an end. This time around, it concluded with a two consecutive losses in the NCAA Atlantic Region Championships. The two losses came to Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania and Shippensburg. They did not score a run in either game. They took on the #1 seeded Lock Haven University for their first game of the championship rounds on Friday. They swamped the Lady Bulldogs 8-0. Third baseman Sarah Norris scored the first run for Lock Haven in the very first inning and they never looked back. Runs were scored nearly every way possible. There were homeruns, a sacrifice fly, and doubles. There was simply no stopping Lock Haven in this game. The offense was not the end of it. Their pitcher Kristen Erb, dominated the Lady Bulldogs batters with 12 strikeouts and throwing a no-hitter. The following day, the Lady Bulldogs immediately had to take on Shippensburg University. They would look to recover and pull out a victory. This is a goal that was not reached at all. They dropped this game 0-2, and had their season ended. This game was scoreless until a solo homerun by Shippensburg's Hope Cornell in the fourth inning. She also scored the second run off of a Lisamarie Ramagli single in the sixth inning. The Lady Bulldogs only had two hits in the game. The preparation for next season now begins. A regular-season performance similar to this year will help. The NCAA playoff performance must pick up however. |
