THE SPORTSZONE

Is this the best time of the year? Of course it is! It's the end of the semester, NBA Playoffs, last issue of the paper, and the summer is about to break.  There is no better time of year in my opinion.  There's something about when the temperature picks that makes everything more enjoyable.  It may just be that the stresses of school aren't weighing down your shoulders.  Whatever it is, I'm glad it's finally here.

However, the biggest news in Bulldog sports is former running back Isaac Redman signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers.  It's very rare a Bulldog athlete makes it to the professional ranks.  Redman has broken that barrier and it's important that we support his accomplishment as fellow Bulldogs.

The Los Angeles Lakers have advanced to second round of the NBA Playoffs.  They dominated the Utah Jazz in the first round and now they are in a heated series with the Houston Rockets.  Two games into the series players are already trash-talking, throwing bows, and being suspended by the league. This is a highly contested series and I'm looking forward to every second of it.  Hopefully it goes to seven games in my Lakers favor.  For the record they are my favorite to win the west.

On the other side of the country the Cleveland Cavaliers are dominating the Atlanta Hawks in the semi-finals round.  They are now up 2-0 as they go back to Atlanta for game three on Saturday.  The Cavs are definitely my favorite to win the Eastern Conference.  Too bad they are going to drop to the Lakers in six or seven games.

Another last congratulation goes out to Lady Bulldog's softball team.  They are 2009 CIAA champions and will have to defend this crown all next season.  Undoubtedly, they are the most successful Bulldogs team of this school year.  Hopefully next year all teams will make it this far in their seasons.
