I walked the halls one last time. I noticed everything more now; every flyer posted on the bulletin boards, the desk I usually sat in as I waited for my classes to begin, and the couches I used to study on before a big test. It is so surreal how this experience is now coming to an end, but with a new commencement. I will truly treasure the memories at Bowie State University. The Volleyball team has a new leader now and I am very confident she will lead a new breed of success to the championship. Since I am staying in the area I hope I can come back to support the lady bulldogs just as those who came back for me when I was a freshman. As for me, I am playing in an adult league and I hope I can accomplish new feats while my body still allows. I have been offered a position with the office of Congresswoman Donna Edwards. I believe in my heart this is a life changing experience. I am beyond elated and I will accept the offer. This is falling perfectly in my plan to take a year off from school before entering Law School. Because my school of choice is so expensive, I am going to pull as many resources as I can to reduce the amount of money that I am going to be dishing out once I get there. I know loans are inevitable, but I want to reduce the amount of loans I would be taking out after all I'm not buying a house just a piece of paper. I am graduating on May 16. I reached my goal of a 4.0 this semester and I am certainly proud. It has been very hard trying to maintain a 4.0 this semester and I am thankful that my hard work has paid off. When we graduate from college we all expect to have that honeymoon period, but when that honeymoon period is over what's next? Have we all made our plans for our future? Have we all decided what the next level was? I believe it is important in decided what your future holds and to discuss these questions with yourself I know I have time and time again. Bowie will always hold a dear place in my heart. From the first day in preseason for volleyball almost passing out on the track because my coach ran me too hard and from the first day in my classes, I will always remember this experience. Time has gone by so fast and it has almost been taken for granted. I will always remember those professors who have always been there, encouraging words have carried me a long way. My plans for the future still stand. It is now time to get ready for Yale Law School. There's a place in my heart that will never grow cold because it is full of fire and desire propelling me into my future. |
