Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society

The Nu Nu Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta was established at Bowie State University in 1976. The purpose of Sigma Tau Delta is to encourage mastery of written expression, to encourage worthwhile reading, and to foster a spirit of fellowship among men and women specializing in English. To be eligible for membership in this society, a student must be either an English major or minor, must have taken at least two literature courses beyond the freshman requirements, must have a 3.0 average in English, must rank in the highest 35% of class in general scholarship, and must have completed three semesters of university work.

Le Cercle Francais (The French Club)

The purpose of Le Cercle Français is to enhance knowledge accrued in the classroom by providing extracurricular activities involving French culture. Membership in this club, however, is not limited to students enrolled in French classes.

Figures of Speech (The English Club)

The English Club is composed of English majors and minors and students of other majors who are interested in promoting a better understanding and appreciation of notable literary figures and their works. The English Club also sponsors poetry slams and provides academic support for its members.

The Spanish Club

The purpose of the Spanish Club is to enhance knowledge accrued in the classroom by providing extracurricular activities involving Spanish culture. Membership in this club, however, is not limited to students enrolled in Spanish classes.
