There are many viable, interesting, and enriching clubs and associations that students in the Department of History and Government can join. 

History and Government Club

This club is for all the students with concentrations in history and government, and any student from other departments, or with different concentrations, at Bowie State University. The current officers are:

Pi Sigma Alpha

This organization was founded in 1920 as the National Political Science Honor Society. It is open to both graduate and upper-level undergraduate students in government or political science. The selected students are only those who have achieved the required level of academic excellence, and membership is possible through local chapters housed in or within departments. Phi Alpha Theta

This history honors society was established in March 1921 at the University of Arkansas by Professor Nels Cleven. Today, there are over 800 chapters in the country, open to undergraduate and graduate students as a fraternity of history learners. American Political Science Association

Founded in 1903, this organization has over 15,000 members in more than 80 countries. Interested students should go to the APSA website, www.apsanet.org, or call 202-483-2512.

BSU Philosophy Club.

If you are interested in the discipline of philosophy, contact Dr. Fred Mills at 301-860-3605 or Dr. Robert Birt at 301-860-3615. In addition, a leading organization for philosophy students and professionals is the American Philosophical Association, founded in 1900.
