Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement Office of the Principal Legal Advisor 425 I St. NW Room 6100 Washington, DC 20536 The Office of the Principal Legal Advisor, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, currently has an opening for a student hire as part of the government Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP). Applicants must be enrolled in college or university at all times during the participation in the STEP Program. The pay grade for this position is a GS-04 Step 1 ($13.01 an hour, two years above high school) or GS-05 Step 1 ($14.56 an hour, four years above high school). Duties will include assisting in providing technical support to computer users, assisting in inventory and asset management, generating statistical reports and other computer-related tasks. Students may work full-time or part-time schedules at any time during the year. There are no limits on the number of hours a student can work per week, as long as the student’s work schedule does not interfere with the student’s academic schedule. Applicant MUST be a U.S. citizen and will undergo a background investigation, including drug screening. Students are appointed to positions not to exceed one year. Appointments under this authority may be extended in one-year increments as long as the individual meets the definition of a student.
