        A native of Washington, D.C., Dr. Valdez worked for Children’s Hospital National Medical Center for 20 years.  She was the Director of the Early Intervention Institute, which provided services for children with communication disorders.  Dr. Valdez presented numerous times on issues regarding language development and critical thinking, the Constructivistic Theory, drug exposed infants and toddlers and many other topics germane to early childhood development.

        In 1998, Dr. Valdez was offered a position as director of the early intervention program at the National Children’s Center.  She was quickly promoted to Director of Programs, and was responsible for the school, programs, residential and day programs for adults as well as early intervention.  Dr. Valdez is currently an Assistant Professor in the College of Education at Bowie State University.  She is Chair of the Exhibit Room Committee for NCATE. Dr Valdez is a member of the Council for Exceptional Children, American Academy of Special Education Professionals and Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.
