Bowie State University provides a limited number of assistantships for graduate students pursuing degrees. Assistantships allow students to work within their respective areas and in various departments while compensating them for their work and providing a tuition waiver. The Graduate Assistantship Program is designed to expose graduate students to additional experiences within their program areas. Students often work closely with faculty on activities and projects that will extend their knowledge base. Some students work in units throughout campus that serve the student body. The new position of Teaching Assistantship was recently created to give students additional professional teaching experiences. Students either teach or team-teach undergraduate courses. Both graduate assistants and teaching assistants are paid a stipend to work 20 hours per week. Tuition is also waived for students in the program, although all applicable fees remain the responsibility of the student. For a graduate assistantship application, please click here. -
