The Graduate Council serves as advisory to the dean of the graduate school in the consideration of all program matters and degree regulations at the graduate level.

The Graduate Council is composed of the graduate program coordinators from each department and one graduate student who is appointed by the dean. The provost and vice president for academic affairs and the dean of the graduate school serve as ex-officio members of the council with full voting rights. Council members must be full-time teaching faculty who hold the rank of assistant professor or above and teach graduate courses.

The student council member may serve up to three years but no longer than the completion of the degree. Terms of office of elected members are from July 1 to June 30.

The Graduate Council involves other administrative offices, faculty, and part-time faculty when necessary to review and assess matters for discussion and action.
