Welcome to BSU Institutional Review Board (IRB)

The Bowie State University Institutional Review Board (IRB) mission is to guide and protect the welfare and rights of research subjects and is responsible for the review of all research and research-related proposals conducted at Bowie State University. It also reviews all external research projects from non-BSU candidates who proposed to conduct research at the institution using either faculty, students or staff as subjects. Bowie State University is committed to fostering standards of excellence in all aspects of biomedical and behavioral research conducted by faculty, staff or students in areas of investigation where human subject/materials are used. In view of the responsibility of BSU IRB, a support system has been put in place to guide those conducting research at BSU (investigators) as they navigate the terrain of their research and the protection of their potential subjects. The BSU IRB website provides detailed information and directions to potential student/faculty researchers, potential subjects, research sponsors and granting agencies.
