The Federal Statue (45 CFR 46 & 107) guides the Bowie State University Institutional Review Board (IRB). It also plays a key role in determining the functionality of the BSU board members where their expertise and experience reflect the type of research proposals conducted by the faculty/student investigators and reviewed by the IRB. The Board members comprised of faculty professionals from a diverse academic and professional background. The BSU IRB includes faculty with science and social science background, a community of diverse academic experts. The BSU IRB also maintains that research proposals from campus based researcher or group submitting proposals for external funding or campus-based individuals or group conducting research off-campus must be submitted to the Board for review and approval before full research can be conducted.
