The Bulldog Academy is only offered in the summer.
The Bulldog Academy is held during the summer, prior to the start of the fall semester.
June 28 - August 7, 2015
$850 (in-state) and $2,850 (out of state). This modest fee will cover some room and board expenditures. All fees must be paid by Friday, June 26, 2015 by 4 p.m. ET, or applicants will not be allowed to move in to the residence hall. Tuition for two courses and books will be paid by the Bulldog Academy program.
The Bulldog Academy provides an opportunity to ease your transition from high school to college with the opportunity to earn college credits. Students can receive college credits by enrolling in an English and mathematics course during the summer. You must be an admitted, first-time student to be eligible for the Bulldog Academy. Transfer students are not eligible.
Each first time freshman is required to take a placement examination prior to the Fall 2015 semester. The exam will determine your English and mathematics course taken during the Fall. During the summer, you will take college level English (ENGL 101) or developmental English (ENGL 100) and college level mathematics (MATH 127, 125, 141) or developmental mathematics (Math 099). Remember, if you take a developmental course, the course does not satisfy a graduation requirement.
By enrolling in a developmental course during the summer, you will be on track in your program of study for the Fall semester, e.g., If you enroll in Math 099 during the summer and successfully complete the course, you will enroll in a college level mathematics course in the Fall. You are still on track!
If you enroll in a college level course during the summer, you will be a step ahead in your program of study, e.g. ENGL 101 (Summer 2015) followed by ENGL 102 (Fall 2015) and you have satisfied the English requirement.
Bowie State University will pay tuition and fees for the two courses in addition to textbooks needed. This is a great deal! Your cost will be determined by the results of the placement examination. This will pay for your room and board (food/housing) during the program.
STUDENTS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR A PROGRAM FEE. THE FEE WILL COVER ROOM AND BOARD DURING THE PROGRAM.
