A two-time alumnus of Bowie State University and president of the BSU National Alumni Association will share his experience working for more than 30 years in education at the 149th Founder’s Day, celebrating the university’s rich legacy of making education accessible.
Dr. John Word, Sr. has been principal of Kenmore Middle School in Arlington, Va. since 1998. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history and Master of Education in Secondary School Supervision and Administration degree at Bowie State University. He also holds a Doctorate in Education Leadership and Policy Studies degree from the George Washington University.
He has served in numerous roles in education as instructional supervisor, assistant principal, principal and university adjunct faculty member.
Other highlights of the Founder’s Day program include musical selections by the University Concert Band, BSU Gospel Choir, and memoriam for members of the BSU community who died in the last year.
