The BSU Golden Girls cheerleaders took first place in the Overall Game Day Division II Small Co-Ed competition at the Universal Cheerleaders Association Cheer Camp. The squad also placed first in Game Day Sideline and second in Game Day Cheer.

Four BSU student-athletes were selected to the 2014 All-Central Intercollegiate Athletics Association (CIAA) Preseason Team. Seniors Khari Lee, Keith Brown, Mario Diaz-Aviles and Anthony McDaniel were among the students chosen by the CIAA Football Coaches Association.

Mariela Hernandez (’14) was awarded full scholarship to attend medical school at Texas Technical University from the National Health Service Corps, which is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The program is open to students pursuing a career in the medical field. By accepting the scholarship, Hernandez must work at least two years at an outpatient facility in a medically underserved community after graduation.

Colby White (’97, ’07) was named the new chief financial officer for Prince George’s County Schools. He is responsible for a staff of 175 employees and helps to craft the school system’s $1.8 billion budget.
