MR. FRANKLIN WALLER, B.S.

Director of Wiseman Student Centre, Conference Services and Student Life

As Director, Mr. Waller is responsible for the overall operations and management of the Wiseman Student Centre, departmental planning and financial management, staff development and training.

Prior to arriving at Bowie State University, Mr. Waller was the Director of Administrative Services (Food Services, Bookstore, Post Office, Printing Services, Vending Services, University Card) at McDaniel College, Assistant Director of Auxiliary Enterprises (Banking Services, Food Services, Vending Services, Bookstore, Housing and Parking Garage) at Johns Hopkins University, Director of Revenue Producing  Contracts and Assistant Director of Housing/Coordinator of Business Operations at Towson University.

Mr. Waller received his undergraduate degree in Political Science/Economics from Towson University and pursued graduate studies in Public Administration from the University of Baltimore.

Mr. Waller is a long time member of the Association of College Unions International and the National Association of College Auxiliary Services.

MS. KAREN TYLER, B.A.

Ms. Karen Tyler is currently the Associate Director of Conference Service and Acting Associate Dean of Student Life at Bowie State University.  She has served as Associate Director since 2003 and the Acting Associate Dean since July 2010.

Bowie State University hired Ms. Tyler as the Conference Coordinator for the Conference Service Department from 1997 to 2001 and then she was promoted to Assistant Director of the Conference Services Department from 2001 to 2003.  She also works for a private industry firm as a Consultant.  Prior to her arriving at Bowie State University she worked for private industry's serving in various positions to include Senior Conference Coordinator , Production Manager and Consultant at AFYA, Inc., Conference Coordinator and Senior Conference Coordinator at, Circle Solutions, Inc., Conference Coordinator and Office Manager at Datanamics, Inc.

Ms. Tyler received her undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Morgan State University.  Ms. Tyler was also a student worker at Bowie State University in the Housing Department. To continue her education, she worked between classes and on weekends off campus.  

Ms. Tyler loves to spend time with family, especially planning the family reunions, horseback riding, roller skating and was part of the elite pom pom squad in High School.

MR. SHAWN LAMB, B.S.

Coordinator of Intramural and Recreational Sports Programs, Wiseman Student Centre

As the Coordinator of Intramural Sports and Recreational Programs Since 2002, Mr. Lamb has created programs that have been considered to only give out recreational equipment.  He has broken down the program into three different entities the first being recreational sports where he provides the community with three to four different group fitness classes a semester that range from Pilates, Step Aerobics, Total Body Challenge, Cardio Kickboxing, and ABT.  Mr. Lamb also provides special programs such as weight loss programs, walk off your lunch programs, and weight loss seminars. The Intramural aspects of the programs consist of Intramural basketball, flag football, dodge ball, volleyball, kickball, and softball.

In addition to Intramural and Recreational Sport Programs, Mr. Lamb is the Facility manger for the McKeldin.  Duties consist of supervising five students and the staff with weekly staff meetings and mid and end of the semester evaluations.

MR. ROBERTE FOSTER, B.S.

Roberte Foster is a native of Greensboro, North Carolina who has dedicated himself to the growth and development of the community at Bowie State University. Being a part of the Division of Student Affairs has afforded him an opportunity to positively affect the lives of our nation's best and brightest future leaders.  He has received numerous accolades for his untiring commitment to serving the campus and outside community.  "Doing the common things in life in an uncommon way will help you to command the attention of the world" is the mantra Roberte lives by as he motivates people to become change agents for themselves and the world.

He received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Bowie State University.

MS. SHIRLENE BROOKS, B.S.

Administrative Assistant to the Director of Wiseman Student Centre

Ms. Brooks works closely with the Director and Associate Director for Wiseman Student Centre in support of department-wide projects.  She manages the day to day operations of the department and supervises three Office Assistants.  Using PeopleSoft, Ms. Brooks is responsible for monitoring the department budgets, submitting requisitions for purchase orders, and processing personnel requisitions.  She maintains financial records and deposits monies received for department.  

Ms. Brooks serves as the department resource for financial information and ensures confidentiality of information.  She researches, analyzes, and summarizes information for reports that are generated by the office.  As directed by Director, manages conception and completion of certain projects as it relates to the upkeep of the Wiseman Student Centre.

Ms. Brooks received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland.  She is a candidate for a Masters in Human Services Degree from Lincoln University of Pennsylvania May 2011.
