Personal Values and Academic Achievements I am dependable, trustworthy and dedicated in all that I do. God is first in my life and no matter what situation comes about I pray before I react. I set the bar high for myself so that I can be a positive role model for my daughter, especially when it comes to academics. I cannot expect her to bring home good grades and not lead by example.
Why did you choose to attend Bowie State University? I chose Bowie State because it is a HBCU! When I came to visit the campus it was so warm, welcoming and open. Also, because I am a single parent and the distance is not so bad that I can't get to my daughter in case of an emergency.
What professor/s has had the most impact on you and why? I honestly cannot name just one professor. I will say that the entire Communications Department has impacted me. I believe that I am taking a little from each professor that I came in contact with. Each professor has so much dedication to the communications field and to the students.
How has Bowie State helped to enhance your cultural experiences? Being that Bowie State is a HBCU, I took African-American History and some other general education courses. Those courses allowed me to look at history in a different light and they allowed me to become more aware of "MY" history.
Next Steps Fall 2010 Bowie State University, Johns Hopkins or Georgia State University. It is my intention to obtain my Masters in Communications as well as obtain an MBA degree.
What extracurricular activities and community service have made a significant and positive difference in your life? Becoming a member of PRSSA allowed me to meet with fellow communications majors and get a feel for what public relations is and will be once I graduate. Also, interning in the University Relations and Marketing Office has given me hands on experience. I am the senior class secretary, which has allowed me to actively work with the senior class board and my graduating class.
