Why did you choose to attend Bowie State University? I choose to attend Bowie State University because of the assistantship that was made available to me. I was accepted to other institutions but chose Bowie state because of its affordability, closeness to home, and financial support. What professor/s has had the most impact on you and why? The professor who has had the most impact on me is Dr. Cubie Bragg. Dr Bragg has served in two major roles during my time here at Bowie State. He is my faculty advisor in the counseling program and the advisor for the Graduate Student Association. Dr. Bragg has proved himself to be a genuine person, full of compassion and empathy that will help to nurture the leader in you. How has Bowie State helped to enhance your cultural experiences? I consider myself to be a Nigerian American being that my parents were born in Nigeria and I was born in DC. I love the fact that Bowie State University has a thriving African Student Association organization where I can feel at home with others people who are just like me. They provide different activities, and events geared towards providing students with additional information about different cultures and backgrounds. Next Steps I was recently accepted into the PhD program at Howard University in Counseling Psychology. What extracurricular activities and community service have made a significant and positive difference in your life? Being a part of the Graduate Student Association has made a significant and positive difference and impact on my life. I have been fortunate to be able to attend and speak at different events, activities and programs due to my leadership role in GSA. I feel that this exposure has afforded me a graduate experience that is beyond what I could have ever imagined.
